Milkweed seeds preparing for their maiden flight!
Talayote seeds still in the dried pod.
With dry, blustery conditions, these silken strands can lift the seeds to extremely high altitudes thereby dispersing them for miles.

While this vine can sometimes strangle other plants with less constitution, here in the wilds of El Mesteño Ranch, it’s not nearly as formidable.

As the pods dry they crack open to release a flock of tiny brown seeds each seemingly suspended on it’s own silken parachute!
